Moving A Hospital

Moving a hospital of any size to a new building while still providing healthcare services is a complicated process. It requires careful transition planning—often starting years in advance—and a broad range of issues that go beyond just moving medical equipment. These issues can range from transferring telephone lines to having two hospitals in operation during the moving process. With the right transition planning and hospital movers, a hospital can be relocated with no adverse effects on its operations and its patients.

The Issue with Hospital Relocations

Even a small-scale hospital requires proper planning before executing the move. Transition planning is a key issue for hospitals, because they need to be able to provide patient care from their first day of occupancy in the new facility and up to the last day in the old facility. To do this, hospitals need move management and planning from professional hospital movers.

Factors That Impact Hospital Transition Planning

There are multiple things that must be considered when moving a hospital, including:
[dotlist]
  • The specific needs of individual departments
  • Moving medical equipment with the right tools and methods
  • Installing new equipment
  • Following federal procedures for moving a hospital
  • Meeting all government inspection and compliance requirements
  • Efficiently migrating patients
  • Ensuring uninterrupted services

The risks to the hospital and patients in that hospital are at their highest during a move. Hospitals can mitigate these risks by hiring hospital movers that can assist with transition planning.
Preparing the New Hospital Space
The new facility must be ready to operate from day one. During hospital transition planning, administrators need to coordinate things like:

  • How furniture, computers, medical devices, printers, patient beds, and other equipment will fit in the new facility
  • Installing all electrical equipment, television screens, and phones
  • Training new employees and temporary staff that will assist during the move
  • Making sure all medical supplies are ordered and in stock at the new facility
  • Running tests on fire systems and medical equipment during transportation
  • Decommissioning the old hospital space once it is emptied

The “AirGlide” system

The “AirGlide” System

During the past 25 years, Admiral Movers agent for Mayflower has come up with various innovative solutions to better serve our customers. These solutions not only help us to better protect your belongings, they also help us to produce a quicker, safer move and less stressful move.

Safety Reliability AirGlide

One of these innovations is the “AirGlide” system, in which we take your computer equipment, encase it in bubble wrap and place it on one of our computer gondolas. The bubble wrap is made of three-inch, heavy-gauge plastic and can easily be wrapped around most pieces of computer equipment.

Once the pieces are safely wrapped, they are securely placed in one of our heavy-duty computer gondolas. The gondolas allow for many pieces of computer equipment to be transported from one location to another without the worry of pieces being dropped and damaged.

While we can tell you how safe and effective our system is, the results speak for themselves: since we began using the “AirGlide” system over 25 years ago, not one piece of computer equipment has been damaged. Learn more about how our innovations can serve you by visiting www.admiralmovers.com or by calling (334) 262-6666 (877) 816-3454.

About Us

Welcome to the Admiral Movers blog, which will feature topics and current issues related to moving, packing and storage. We hope you will find this blog helpful when planning your next move, whether it's business or personal, across town or across the country. But before we begin, let us tell you a little bit about our company and where we've come from.

Admiral Movers was founded in 1989 in Montgomery, Ala. by Scott McNelley and George Azar to offer a high-quality alternative for office and residential moves. Since then, Admiral Movers has been privileged to serve as the movers of choice for some of the River Region's finest organizations, including Jackson Hospital, Colonial Bank, Pickwick Antiques and Construction Materials.

In 2000, Scott bought out partner George Azar to became president of Admiral Movers. The following year, the company was recognized as one of Montgomery's up-and-coming small businesses as it was named to the "Emerging Thirty" list by the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. The company moved its corporate facility to its recent location at the Montgomery Business Park, which also includes a 26,000-square-foot storage warehouse.

In 2006, Admiral Movers joined UniGroup Inc. and became an agent for Mayflower Transit. That same year, Admiral Movers was voted first place for moving services in Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties by the Montgomery Advertiser's eighth annual Reader's Choice awards. Admiral Movers was again honored in 2007 as the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce named the company "Small Business of the Year" for all companies with 11 to 25 employees.

Currently, Admiral Movers is continuing to offer the best in customer service through its quality employees and industry-leading products. To learn more or to get a free, no-obligation estimate on your upcoming move, visit www.AdmiralMovers.com, or call (334) 262-6666.
